According to a group of international meeting planners, Brisbane’s reputation as a destination for meetings and incentives is on the rise thanks to local operators like Story Bridge Adventure Climb (SBAC).
Tourism Australia and Brisbane Marketing hosted a group of 10 international buyers in Brisbane last month as a follow up to the Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME).
Part of the itinerary included climbing the city’s iconic bridge with SBAC.
Steve Quinlan, Managing Director of SQ Meetings and Incentive Travel Ltd from the UK said SBAC was an amazing experience even though he suffered from vertigo.
“With the support from the group I fought my demons and did it,” Mr Quinlan said.
“This was in no small part down to the professionalism of Pete our climb leader who made me feel entirely safe at all times.
“It is an experience we will definitely include on our programme for future events in Brisbane,” he said.
SBAC Chief Executive Officer Paul Lewin welcomed the group on top of the bridge and announced a group of new SBAC promotional packages including group rates from $79, courtesy transfers and team photographs.
“Story Bridge Adventure Climb is an ideal experience for groups because it combines an adrenalin activity for all levels of fitness with amazing views and commentary of Brisbane and South East Queensland,” Mr Lewin said.
“Groups can have exclusive use of the bridge if they like, or even take part in a tai chi classes on the top platform,” he said.
Mr Lewin said SBAC had only just launched the tai chi climbs but already they had received a lot of interest from incentive style groups.
The regular bridge climb experience takes two-and-a-half hours to complete, however SBAC can also run express climbs for larger groups.
