Sightseeing on Google Earth goes Multilingual with Google Sightseeing

Google Sightseeing, an unofficial daily entertainment blog dedicated to finding the most bizarre and entertaining sights on Google Earth, has expanded its language offerings.

Edinburgh, Scotland (PRWEB) July 12, 2008 -- From 9th July 2008 three new blogs: German, Dutch, and Spanish join the hugely popular English, French and Italian versions in providing daily updates of exciting virtual destinations. Each of the different language sites has its own local author who will not only be translating posts from the English version of the site, but will be adding their own entries featuring local points of interest.

The original English language Google Sightseeing was launched in April of 2005 and has since been featured in hundreds of mainstream newspapers, television shows, and websites, including the BBC, Fox, Newsweek, New York Times, Guardian, and many others.

Google Sightseeing was the brainchild of brothers Alex Turnbull, 31, and James Turnbull, 27, who are both full-time web professionals. The daily updated blog invites you to explore some of the most bizarre sights the world has to offer from the comfort of your desk, using the revolutionary Google Earth application, or Google Maps in your web browser.

The images in Google Earth come from a variety of sources, including top-down aerial or satellite photography and panoramic street-level images taken from a specially modified car. Within all these photos are hundreds of unexpected and unique events that the authors highlight and discuss for your enjoyment.

Recent additions to the site have included the largest restaurant in the World, aeroplanes captured refueling in flight, mysterious circles of people forming for no apparent reason, and The World's Largest Drain. The blog has also posted stories regarding images found in Google's controversial "street view" images, which have included a police officer stopping the car, a girl exposing herself at the camera, and a child pulling a gun on another child.

Speaking to himself while writing this press release in the third person, James Turnbull said: "Our goal with translating Google Sightseeing is to offer our content to as global an audience as possible. The Google Earth application is available in 24 languages, so we are hoping to one day offer the same choice with our blog".
