Car Driving Survey Commissioned by PrivateFleet.com.au Reveals Shocking Insights

The most comprehensive survey of it's kind (over 2,500 participants, commissioned by privatefleet.com.au) has delivered a startling insight into Australian driving habits. Broken up by state, gender, car type and more, the survey reveals BMW drivers as the most likely to drink and drive, Volkswagen drivers being the fastest drivers and Mazda being the best behaved drivers. In terms of states, Australian Capital Territory comes out tops whilst South Australia has the largest share of driving lawbreakers.

Sydney, NSW, Australia (PRWEB) April 16, 2008 -- The most comprehensive survey of it's kind ever conducted in Australia has revealed a fascinating and shocking insight into the habits of drivers across the country.

2,500 Australian drivers were surveyed by online car buying service, privatefleet.com.au, and their responses shed light on many age old driving questions.

Detailed and comprehensive statistics on controversial topics such as women drivers, Holden vs Ford, city or country, P-Platers and Volvo drivers are all available via the interactive survey available at the Private Fleet website

Key Findings

-While young (17-25) Toyota drivers are 40% more likely than the average driver to talk on the phone whilst driving, they are about 30% less likely to drink and drive

-The best overall segment of drivers is female drivers in QLD aged between 41 and 60. The worst drivers are (perhaps unsurprisingly) male P-Platers from NSW

-Male drivers are worse drivers in all categories except "Text Messaging Whilst Driving" category which female drivers came out tops.

Car Highlights

Overall Holden hold the unenviable title of housing Australia's worst drivers whereas Mazda come out on top as the having the best behaved drivers. BMW drivers may be the best behaved when it comes to text messages but they take out the dubious honour of the worst drink drivers with 42% admitting to having driven after drinking 3 or more standard alcoholic drinks. Honda drivers keep it straight with less than 33% admitting the same.

State Highlights

Overall, South Australia is home to the country's worst drivers whilst Australian Capital Territory drivers are (comparatively) squeaky clean!
Speed freaks head for Tasmania where nearly 50% of drivers say that they have exceeded the speed limit by more than 30 km/hr whilst Victorians take their time as only 39% putting their pedal to the metal.

Statistical survey

(From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
Statistical surveys are used to collect quantitative information about items in a population. Surveys of human populations and institutions are common in political polling and government, health, social science and marketing research. A survey may focus on opinions or factual information depending on its purpose, and many surveys involve administering questions to individuals. When the questions are administered by a researcher, the survey is called a structured interview or a researcher-administered survey. When the questions are administered by the respondent, the survey is referred to as a questionnaire or a self-administered survey.
